The present invention relates to a novel kit, transportable device, and method for generating an in-situ CO2 snow block within the device. Articles such as biological samples can be stored and transported within the same apparatus employed to create the CO2 snow block. The device can store samples during transport. The present invention also includes a specially designed CO2 snow filler system that includes a filler and a mesh-like conduit 3.
