An apparatus for securing a protective fiber sleeve around an internally contained elongated member, and methods of use thereof are provided. The tool includes a clamp assembly having an opposing clamp member. Each clamp member has a clamp surface that abuts the fiber sleeve. Each clamping surface includes a plurality of heating members operably connected to a power source. The heating members at each clamping surface are supported for independent radial relative motion in response to being engaged with the outer surface of the fiber sleeve. This allows the clamping surface to automatically conform to the arcuate shape of the sleeve and the elongated member clamped between the clamping surfaces.
