To select the optimum steel material according to the difference in environmental conditions due to this depth by easily obtaining the difference in the corrosion environment according to the depth of the oil pipe used for oil and gas wells.SOLUTION: Using a plurality of oil pipes with different sulfide stress cracking sensitivity depending on the depth of the wells, the same pH as the critical pH in which the sulfide stress cracking occurs in the steel for the plurality of oil pipes to be used is estimated respectively, considering the temperature distribution by the depth of the well in this case, a steel material with low sulfide stress cracking sensitivity in the sulfide stress cracking test (SSC test) is selected in order, as a steel material for an oil pipe used in a shallower region than a steel material used in the deepest part of the steel pipe in the depth position at which these temperatures are obtained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
