PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method of scale adhesion of steel material capable of evaluating adhesion of a scale formed on a compression side surface of steel material quantitatively.;SOLUTION: After a scale is formed on a surface of a steel test piece under a heat processing condition that simulates a hot rolling process, the steel test piece is compressed in a SEM chamber, peeling behavior of the scale is observed in-situ, and stress and strain are measured until a time when the scale is peeled. From a stress strain diagram drawn based on a measurement value, strain energy u accumulated in the scale until the scale is peeled is derived, thickness ξ of the scale is measured from cross-section observation of the steel test piece, and adhesion energy G of the scale is obtained.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
