To facilitate inspection for the inside of a vertical shaft pump.SOLUTION: A vertical shaft pump observation device comprises: an air sac 2 capable of suctioning gas lighter than air; a thrust generation unit 3 connected to the air sac 2, and configured to generate thrust; and a camera 4 connected to the air sac 2, and capable of imaging the inside of a vertical shaft pump. The thrust generation unit 3 comprises propellers 32-1, 32-2 for vertical movement, and propellers 33-1, 33-2 for horizontal movement. The vertical shaft pump observation device further comprises a communication unit configured to transmit image data, captured by the camera 4, to a controller an operator operates, wherein the image data is displayed on the controller.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
