PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color imaging apparatus capable of maintaining imaging sensitivity and a frame rate while increasing resolution of the color imaging apparatus.SOLUTION: A two-plate type color imaging apparatus includes: a prism that separates an incident light into G color, and R color and B color, in two different directions; a first solid-state imaging device for receiving the light of R color and B color separated by the prism and outputting red signals according to a light quantity of R color and blue signals according to a light quantity of B color; a second solid-state imaging device for receiving the light of G color separated by the prism and outputting green signals according to a light quantity of G color; and an image synthesis part for synthesizing the output of the first solid-state imaging device and the output of the second solid-state imaging device to form one sheet of image data having a honeycomb pixel array or square pixel array. The first solid-state imaging device and the second solid-state imaging device are formed of a square pixel array, and the image synthesis part forms image data of the honeycomb pixel array by synthesizing the pixels by shifting the pixels of the imaging devices obliquely by a 1/2 pixel from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
