Method for identification of mineral particles present in ore using fully automatic mineral analyzer and microscopic laser Raman spectrometer
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mineral particle identification method which allows for easily identifying different mineral particles in a target ore sample even when the ore contains the different mineral particles matching in quantities or similar to but different from the constituent elements.SOLUTION: An ore sample obtained by embedding an ore in resin is polished and loaded in a mineral analyzer. Energy dispersion X-ray spectra of mineral particles identified by measuring a backscattered electron image of a polished surface are measured. An energy dispersion X-ray spectrum measured for each of the mineral particles is compared against a mineral list to distinguish unidentified mineral particles and then identify unidentified mineral particles containing predetermined elements. The unidentified mineral particles containing the predetermined elements are identified by; loading the polished ore sample in a microscopic laser Raman spectrometer; measuring Raman spectra of the unidentified mineral particles containing predetermined elements; and comparing the obtained Raman spectra against spectral data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
