PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength thick steel plate excellent in brittle crack arrest property and a production method thereof.SOLUTION: A structural high strength thick steel plate is provided that has: a component composition containing, by mass%, C:0.03 to 0.20%, Si:0.03 to 0.5%, Mn:0.5 to 2.2%, P:0.02% or less, S:0.01% or less, Ti:0.005 to 0.03%, Al:0.005 to 0.08%, N:0.0050% or less, and having carbon equivalent (Ceq) represented by the prescribed formulation satisfying 0.30% or more and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities; and a texture in which intensity in {112}110 orientation parallel to a rolling face at a sheet-thickness center portion is 3.0 or more and intensity in {112}110 orientation parallel to a rolling surface on a steel sheet surface is 2.5 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: None
