To provide a diagnostic method of soil physical property which has an influence to crop productivity in a field by using soil hardness data which can be measured by a soil hardness meter.SOLUTION: A soil physical property diagnostic method in a field comprises: a positioning point determination step S1 for determining plural positioning points for a diagnostic area in which a field is an object; a measuring step S2 for measuring soil hardness for every depth for the positioning points determined by the positioning point determination step S1; a soil hardness contour line map creation step S3 for, based on the soil hardness data measured in the measuring step S2 and positional data of the positioning data, creating a soil hardness contour line map for every depth; a soil layer determination step S4 for determining whether a soil horizon is a plow layer or a lower layer soil, based on the soil hardness contour line map for every depth created in the soil hardness contour line map creation step S3; and a soil physical property diagnostic step S5 for diagnosing the soil physical property for the plow layer or lower layer soil determined in the soil layer determination step S4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
