To provide an automatic centering device and an automatic centering method of a workpiece which has a simple structure, and can perform workpiece centering work in a short cycle time.SOLUTION: An air slide table 20 arranged on a rotating table 11 has: a movable base 40 on which a workpiece placing face for placing a workpiece W thereon is arranged, and can horizontally move to an arbitrary direction while being floated by pressure of compressed air. Furthermore, an automatic centering device 10 comprises a plurality of stopper devices 30 each having an abutment part 31a on which the workpiece W can abut, and performing positioning of the workpiece W; and a pressing device which presses the workpiece W so that the workpiece W abuts on the abutment part 31a of the stopper device 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
