The invention relates to an SMD inductor as a component, and to a method for producing an SMD inductor. The inductor simultaneously has low losses and a high peak current capacity, as well as a high mechanical stability. In addition, the inductor comprises an inner core part, an outer core part and a coil with a wire. The inner core part presents an alloy. The outer core part presents ferrite. The wire is wound around the inner core part, and the inner core part with the wire is arranged in the outer core part.
