PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform servo control of an IPM motor by providing the IPM motor with parts different in magnetic resistance of a rotor.SOLUTION: An IPM motor and a method for suppressing cogging torque thereof are a configuration and a method, in which parts (20 and 20A) different in magnetic resistance are formed in a part, which is not provided with a magnet, of a rotor (2) on the inside of an annular stator (5) so that a change in magnetic flux density of a gap part can be finely controlled to keep the cogging torque lower than cogging torque of a conventional IPM motor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
