A method for manufacturing a gas barrier, wherein: a first solution comprises a polycarboxylic acid-based polymer, a first polyvalent metal ion, and a first solvent and is prepared so that the content of the first polyvalent metal ion is an amount that neutralizes a portion of the carboxyl group of the polycarboxylic acid-based polymer; a second solution comprises a second polyvalent metal ion, a volatile base or acid excluding carbonic acid, a carbonate ion, and a second solvent; and the first solution and the second solution are mixed together to obtain a coating liquid for a gas barrier.
