PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code inspection method which can accurately measure the remaining torsion of a code in a short time, and a code inspection device.SOLUTION: A code inspection method includes: a constraint process for constraining the rotation of a code which is composed of one or a plurality of pieces of filaments; a rotation inspection process for rotating the code by releasing the constraint of the code, and inspecting a rotational direction and a rotational angle of an inspected body accompanied by the rotation of the code; and a calculation process for setting a position of the inspected body at the release of the constraint of the code as a reference position, reversely rotating the inspected body in a rotational direction by continuous n-numbers (n≥3), also setting the rotational angle with respect to the reference position of the inspected body when the inspected body reversely rotates in the rotational direction as A, A, ..., A, and acquiring an A-value which is calculated by the following formula (1) as the remaining torsion of the code.
