The present invention relates to a nanocrystal composite comprising a) a plurality of nanocrystals comprising a core comprising a metal or a semiconductive compound or a mixture thereof and at least one ligand, wherein said core is surrounded by at least one ligand, b) a polymeric matrix, wherein said polymeric matrix is formed by reaction of epoxy having functionality from 2 to 10 and polythiol having functionality from 2 to 10 or said polymeric matrix is formed by reaction of epoxy having functionality from 2 to 10, (meth)acrylate having functionality from 2 to 10 and polythiol having functionality from 2 to 10, and wherein said nanocrystals are embedded into said polymeric matrix.
