trajectory identification system performed for the first time in the prediction context. The present invention is a process with application in the context of trajectory prediction. This process is useful for identifying whether an ongoing trajectory is being performed for the first time or whether it can be characterized as an already accomplished trajectory. Once it is identified if a trajectory is being taken for the first time, a trajectory predictor can either avoid a prediction or use additional information to suggest a destination. This process should be integrated with a predictor that uses a numeric metric to associate similarity of an ongoing route with previously performed (historical) routes in the forecasting step. The process consists of three main components: the get short route component (1a), to maintain only an x percentage of the original partial route; the component of identifying new path, responsible for identifying if the current path is new (1b); and the inform user component of new route (1c) (Figure 1), which properly presents the information when the route is new, depending on the device being used.
