The present invention relates to a passive heat flow sensor (1) comprising a contact face (11) for placement on an individual (8) during a temperature monitoring procedure; and a plurality of combined thermistor arrangements, one arrangement of combined thermistors comprising an internal thermistor (s1) disposed on an internal face of the sensor (1); an upper thermistor (s2) disposed on the upper surface of the sensor (1) and disposed relative to the internal thermistor (s1) for measuring a vertical heat flow out of the individual (8); and a lateral thermistor (s3) disposed relative to the internal thermistor (s1) for measuring a horizontal heat flux along the contact face (11). The invention further describes a method for measuring the temperature of an individual (8) using a heat flow sensor (1); and a temperature sensing arrangement (10) for monitoring an individual's temperature (8) using a heat flow sensor (1).
