The present invention relates to a composition comprising (a) a non-aqueous liquid carrier; (b) an inhibitor compound selected from the group consisting of urease inhibitors, nitrification inhibitors and mixtures thereof; and (c) a dye composition, wherein the dye composition includes (i) an azo dye; and (ii) from approximately 1% to 60% by weight of water.The invention also provides a method for producing the composition by mixing the ingredients. Besides that, Also provided is a method for producing the composition of the fertilizer, wherein the method comprises the steps of: (a) providing a granular substrate having a surface, wherein the granular substrate comprises a nitrogen source; (b) providing a coating composition; (c) applying the coating composition to at least a portion of the surface of the granular substrate; and (d) drying the granular substrate from step (c) to produce a coating on at least a portion of the surface of the granular substrate.
