The present invention relates to different examples of control systems for a hydraulically driven load handling attachment, of the type usually mounted on industrial forklifts or automatically guided vehicles. The systems described vary variably limit the hydraulic force by which the load securing arm portions move the load substantially transversely, automatically depending on the weight of the load being moved, so as to avoid excessive transverse force applied to fragile loads.
