The present invention relates to devices for detecting changes in esophageal state. More specifically, the present invention relates to a lightweight, portable and user-operable device capable of detecting gastroesophageal reflux events. The sonography arrangement can also be used to track the frequency of gastroesophageal reflux events, and can either store or distribute the data to a physician's server or a user's electronic device.
