The present invention generally relates to novel binding molecules, in particular antibodies and compositions and kits comprising them. said binding molecules are capable of binding to human factor xi and therefore are expected to be particularly useful in inhibiting thrombosis without compromising hemostasis. The binding molecules, compositions and kits provided herein are therefore, among others, intended for the treatment of diseases and conditions related to thrombosis. In addition, polynucleotides encoding the binding molecules of the invention, vectors comprising said polynucleotides and host cells for producing the polynucleotides are provided herein.
