single phase three-phase induction machine-based power generation system with an unbalance minimizing capacitor and three-key dual-arm converter, connected to the utility grid.The patent-pending system utilizes a three-phase cage induction machine (1) as a single-phase generator with unbalance minimized by a capacitor (3). Such a generator is mechanically connected to a primary machine (18), which may be a wind system (turbine + gearbox), a diesel engine, a biomass engine, an biodiesel engine or a system based on biomechanical movements. a three-arm voltage source converter (vsi - voltagesource inverter) (11), (14) and (15), operating with an arm share2 (14), both controls the generator voltage (1) and allows a connection to be created to the single-phase grid (8), thus allowing the insertion of the energy generated by the induction machine into the utility grid with high power factor as well as low harmonic current distortion. The system exchanges a lower efficiency due to the imbalance for a very low initial investment compared to other systems mainly due to the use of cage induction machine and three-arm vsi converter.
