titania fine particle composite, composition, and methods for producing a titania fine particle composite and for producing a neutral dispersion of a titania fine particle composite, a new titania fine particle composite having high transparency is provided, high stability, high ultraviolet absorption power and excellent redispersion ability, and external skin care preparations that contain the titania fma particle composite and have a high ultraviolet protection effect. The titania fine particle composite can be produced by adding one or more selected from carboxylic acids and carboxylic acid derivatives represented by the general formula (1), and polymers containing the carboxylic acids or carboxylic acid derivatives as a constituent monomer. an aqueous acidic dispersion of fm titania particles, and neutralizing the resulting dispersion with an alkali to form a titania fine particle composite composed of fine titania particles that function as nuclei and the carboxylic monomer or polymer deposited on the nuclei surface. In the titania fine particle composite, the fine titania particles function as nuclei have a high degree of crystallization and the intermolecular interaction between the fine titania particles and the carboxylic monomer or polymer is strong. therefore, the titania fine particle composite can be uniformly dispersed in a dispersion medium for high transparency and high stability. In addition, external skin care preparations which have a high ultraviolet protective effect can be produced by adding the titanium fine particle composite.
