Fire protection material is provided for use in sandwich panels, the fire protection material comprising an elastic porous material at least partially impregnated with a thermally expanding substance. Also provided is a panel for the inner wall and an inner wall containing fireproof material disposed between two substantially parallel sheets, for example sheets of drywall. Also provided is a method of providing service penetration in the inner wall.
