The present invention relates to a self-checkout POS system accessible by at least one shop retailer terminal (200) and at least one customer terminal (300) via a communication network (400). The self-checkout POS system comprises an online retail platform (100) arranged for enabling multiple retailers to set-up self-checkout store solutions and implement anti-theft measures for their products (500). The online retail platfrom comprising a product database (101) for storing product information of the retailer, wherein each product in the product database (101) is linked to an electronic security tag ID, a security tag management system (102) configured for managing the electronic security tags attached to the products of the retailer; an administration module (103) for managing the information stored in the online platform (100); and a check-out module (104) configured for receiving purchase information from a shopping software application (310) running on the customer electronic terminal (300), and, on the basis of the information received, for verifying that a successful transaction has occurred and accordingly disarming the electronic security tags attached to the products (500) purchased.
