The present disclosure is related to a structured helical sensor cable for use in opto-acoustic systems for detecting and locating intruders, as well as leaks in hydrocarbon or water transport pipelines. This with a transversal profile that allows capturing vibrations better than a circular profile to be used in opto-acoustic systems. Moreover, this geometry offers the quality of resisting the tension during installation thanks to the combination of the resistance to the tension that provides the central reinforcement and its own helical geometry. Also, the manufacturing method of this structured sensor cable is described, and where the following stages are explained: optical fiber feed and central reinforcement, coating and cooling with applied torsion, pulling and packaging of the helical sensor cable.
