摘要

The present disclosure is related to a thermal process in structural grade, machinery, tool and stainless steel, which allows increasing the tribocorrosive properties on the surface of the materials. The thermal process is carried out in structural grade borated steels, machinery, tool and stainless that initially have a two-phase layer FeB-Fe2B, of known thicknesses on the surface of steels. Borated steels are introduced in a metal container, where they are buried in a silicon carbide powder, and being heated in a temperature range between 900°C and up to 1000°C with exposure times of between 2 and up to 12 hours. The thermal process allows the total dissolution of the FeB layer, and the obtaining of a single-phase Fe2B layer on the surface of structural grade, machinery, tool and stainless steels. The formation of a single-phase Fe2B layer on the surface of the cleared steels is thicker than the two-phase FeB-Fe2B layer, increasing the superficial tribocorrosive properties of the cleared steels by up to 50%, and consequently, increases the shelf life of the materials.
