Uses of bremelanotide in therapy for female sexual dysfunction

The invention relates to the use of bremelanotide in the treatment of female sexual dysfunction, wherein the bremelanotide is formulated for administration by subcutaneous injection comprising an aqueous solution of an acetate salt of bremelanotide in an amount of between about 1.00 and 1.75 mg net peptide weight, resulting in a peak plasma concentration of bremelanotide of no more than 120 ng/ml within 60 minutes after administration, thereby reducing or minimizing undesirable side effects.
