PURPOSE: An inverse converting method for restoring a residual block is provided to minimize encoding information of an intra prediction mode of a current block by adding an MPM candidate according to the directionality of the MPM candidate. CONSTITUTION: The number of effective MPM candidates is lower than a predetermined level, an additional intra prediction mode is added to an MPM candidate. A scanning unit(131) scans coefficients of a quantized converting block to convert the same into one-dimensional quantization coefficients. An inverse quantizing unit(135) inversely quantizes the quantization coefficients. An inverse converting unit(125) restores the quantization coefficients into a residual block of a space area. An adder generates a restoration block by combining the residual block with an intra prediction unit(150) or inter prediction unit(160).
