The invention relates to an accommodation booking system (10) and method. The system (10) includes a database (14) on which is stored details of one or more referrers (100, 102), including a unique referral code for each referrer (100, 102). The system (10) also includes an accommodation module (24) which is configured to receive an accommodation booking request from a user (80.1, 80.2), search through a plurality of accommodation sites (20, 22) for accommodation options, and send details of the options to the user (80.1, 80.2). The accommodation module (24) can receive a booking selection from the user (80.1, 80.2). A payment facilitation module (26) of the system (10) is configured to facilitate payment for the booking. The system (10) includes a referral module (28) which is configured to receive a referral code for a particular booking request and identify a particular referrer (100, 102) which is associated with the received referral code. The referral module (28) is further configured to initiate/facilitate a payment process by which a referral fee is paid to the identified referrer (100, 102).
