REACTIVE HOT MELT ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING MULTI - FUNCITONAL POLYOLS AND POLYMERIC ISOCYANATE COMPOUNDS, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF A reactive hot melt (RHM) adhesive composition includes: a di - functional poly ol compound; a tri - functional pol yol compound; an isocy anate compound; a poly meric isocy anate compound; and optionally a n umber of reactive, non - reactive, functional or nonfunctional pol ym er compounds (e.g., a thermoplastic compound). In t he RHM adhesive composition, the mass fraction of the pol ym eric isocy anate compound is between 10 –20%, and the mass fraction of the tri - functional pol yol compo und plus the mass fraction of the poly meric isocy anate compound is up to 46%. A t ri - functional poly ol compound having a molecular weight between 1,000 – 3,600 (e.g., 3,000) g/mol gives rise to a surprisingl y wide domain of pot stability , and good mechanic al strength. A s equenced RHM composition production process can involve limiting free % NCO to 2.5 in a first process portion; and limiting free % NCO to 3.5 in a second process portion during which the poly mer isocy anate compound is added or further adde d to a melt.
