Procedure for the design of a tower of a wind power plant, reducing by design an excitation of transverse oscillations of the tower for a design wind speed, which has the following procedural steps: - determining the design wind speed (v0) depending on an average wind speed at a location of the wind power plant, - determine an initial diameter (Da) for the tower, - determine a proper tower frequency (f Appropriate) of the wind power plant, - determine a critical diameter (Dcrit.), in which the tower subjected to a flow at the design speed (v0) oscillates with the tower's own frequency (proper), - define a predetermined differential value with respect to the critical diameter (Dcrit .), - if the initial diameter (Da) does not deviate by at least the predetermined differential value of the critical value (Dcrit.), then an excitation section is determined which has a second diameter (D2) and has a length of at least 6 times the second diameter and in which there is an excitation belly during an oscillation with the specific tower-specific frequency, - the second diameter (D2) deviating to the excitation section of the tower of the critical diameter (Dcrit.) at least the differential value.
