Use of a liquid composition containing a) from 40 to 99.9% by weight, preferably from 45 to 99.5% by weight, particularly preferably from 50 to 99% by weight and, especially preferably, from 55 to 98% by weight of sorbitan monocaprylate and b) from 0.1 to 60% by weight, preferably from 0.5 to 55% by weight, particularly preferably from 1 to 50% by weight and, especially preferably from 2 to 45% by weight of one or more antimicrobial active substances, chosen from the group consisting of benzoic acid and its salts, for the preparation of cosmetic, dermatological or pharmaceutical formulations.
