A modified microorganism of the Pasteurellaceae family in which the wcaJ gene has been deleted or in which at least one mutation in the wcaJ gene has been introduced leads to the expression of a truncated enzyme encoded by the wcaJ gene in which at least 100 amino acids of the wild-type enzyme encoded by the wcaJ gene are deleted from the C-terminus, in which the wcaJ gene comprises a nucleic acid selected from the group consisting of: a) nucleic acids having the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO : 3; b) nucleic acids encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4; c) nucleic acids that are at least 70% identical to the nucleic acid of a) or b), the identity being the identity in the total length of the nucleic acids of a) or b); d) nucleic acids encoding an amino acid sequence that is at least 70% identical to the amino acid sequence encoded by the nucleic acid of a) or b), the identity being the identity in the total length of the amino acid sequence encoded by the nucleic acids of a) or b), e) nucleic acids capable of hybridizing under stringent conditions with a sequence complementary to any of the nucleic acids according to a) or b); and f) nucleic acids encoding the same protein as any of the nucleic acids of a) or b), but which differ from the nucleic acids of a) or b) above due to the degeneracy of the genetic code.
