Procedure for locating a target that includes the following stages: a) receive, by means of N = 1 receivers (RR1, RR2, RR3), radio opportunity signals (SRE) issued by M = 1 transmitters (ER) and reflected by said target (C), with N · M = 3, said or said at least one emitter being located outside the view of said or said at least one receiver; b) receiving, by means of a data transmission link (LD), one or several so-called reference signals, representative of the radio signals emitted by said or each said transmitter located out of sight of said or said at least one receiver; and c) from said radio signals and said or said reference signals, determine the position of said target; characterized in that said step c) includes the reconstruction, from said or said reference signals, of replicas of the radio signals that would be received by said or each said receiver by direct propagation from said or from said said emitter located outside of the view if such direct propagation were possible, said reconstruction including a compensation operation of the transmission delay of said or said reference signals along said data transmission line; and in that: said step c) is implemented with the help of a common temporary reference (HOR) to said or said transmitters and to said or said receivers.
