A process for producing a procatalyst, wherein the process comprises the steps in the order of: (a) contacting an inorganic support (IS) with an alkyl-metal chloride (AMC) obtaining a first reaction product (1st RP) , (b) contacting said first reaction product (1st RP) with an electron donor compound (ED) obtaining a second reaction product (2nd RP), (c) contacting said second reaction product (2nd RP) ) with a compound (M) or mixture (MI) obtaining a third reaction product (3rd RPa) and subsequently contacting said third reaction product (3rd RPa) with a titanium compound (TC) obtaining the procatalyst, wherein (i) the alkyl metal chloride (AMC) is of formula (I) RnMeCl3-n (I) wherein R is a C1-C20 alkyl group, Me is a metal of group 13 of the Periodic Table, and n is 1 or 2, (ii) the compound (M) and the mixture (MI) comprise a hydrocarbyl and / or hydrocarbyl oxide bound to magnesium, (iii) the titanium compound (TC) is of formula (III) (OR ') 4-xTiClx (III) wherein R' is a C2-C20 hydrocarbyl group and x is an integer of 3 or 4, and (iv ) the electron donor compound (ED) is a compound (C) comprising two rings containing oxygen, wherein said two rings are joined by a bridge selected from the group consisting of a carbon bridge, a silicon bridge, an ethane-1,2-diyl bridge, an ethene-1,2-diyl bridge, an alkylaminomethyl bridge and an imine bridge, (v) the molar ratio of ED / Mg is from 0.01 to below of 0.40.
