The invention relates to a method for capillary electrophoresis analysis of glycated hemoglobins comprising at least one globin chain comprising an N-terminal amino acid-linked glucose residue contained in a biological sample, said method comprising the use of a buffer composition comprising at least one compound capable of specifically complexing glucose residues of one or more glycated hemoglobin (s) and of providing for this glycated hemoglobin (s) several negative electric charges at alkaline pH. By way of example, this compound may be 3,4- or 3,5-diCarboxyPhenylBoronic acid, preferably 3,5-diCarboxyPhenylBoronic acid. Said method can in particular be used to separate and assay hemoglobin HbAi0 present in a biological sample possibly comprising other hemoglobins, in particular other minor fractions. The invention also relates to buffer compositions useful for this assay, as well as kits for assaying and assaying hemoglobin glycated by capillary electrophoresis.
