A method for producing coke is provided, allowing foroptimizing constraint and permeation conditions to measurethermal plasticity of coal while simulating the environmentsurrounding the thermally plastic coal in a coke oven. Themethod includes determining beforehand brands of coals orcaking additives to be added to a coking coal blend, and thetotal blend ratio of coal with logMF of less than 3.0 relativeto the coal blend, measuring a permeation distance with respectto the coal to be added to the coking coal blend, determining arelationship between a weighted-average permeation distance ofthe coals or caking additives, and the coke strength obtainedwith the coal blends prepared while changing proportions of theindividual brands of coals. The weighted-average permeationdistance is adjusted by controlling the brand and theproportion of the coal(s) so as to achieve coke strength thatis not less than a desired value.
