The present invention discloses sound level meter-based tunnel roof rockProtodyakonov coefficientdetecting-while-drilling apparatus and a method. Aiming at the detecting-while-drilling problem ofthe important rock mechanics index--Protodyakonov coefficient affecting theanchoring andsupporting scheme of the coal mine tunnel roof, drill holes of .PHI.32-42mmare constructed in thetunnel roof, bearing type while-drilling apparatus with a sound level meterprobe is arranged behinda drilling bit. A method of combining with the reading of a scale drill stemis used. In the drillingprocess, the volume decibel of drill holes with different depths is tested,the Protodyakonovcoefficient of the rock within the range of the tunnel roof drill holes isobtained quickly by comparingwith the volume decibel of the in-situ rock drilling in the tunnel inconjunction with the standardlibrary of the rock Protodyakonov coefficient of 0.3 to 20 established in thelaboratory, and harmfulnoise in the punching process is converted into useful sound source, therebyachieving the detecting-while-drilling technology. It is suitable for the detecting while drilling ofthe Protodyakonovcoefficient of sandstone, shale, mudstone and other typical deposited rockstrata of coal measurestrata. It has the advantages of convenient use on site, simple operation, lowlabor intensity and noinfluence on normal production.
