A waste collection unit for collecting waste material through a suction lineduring a medicalprocedure. A waste container includes an internal surface defining acollection chamber. Avacuum source is in selective communication with the waste container forproviding a vacuumto draw the waste material into the waste container through the suction line.A cleaning systemincludes a liquid delivery device disposed within the collection chamber androtatablysupported relative to the waste container. The cleaning system may furtherincludes an actuatorfor rotating the liquid delivery device to vary a direction in which theliquid is directed on theinternal surface of the waste container. The liquid delivery device may be oneor more spraynozzles configured to direct respective spray patterns at different portionsof the internalsurface.
