Provided are a network multimedia video rapid playback method and system, the method comprising the following steps: obtaining a currently playing video file, and detecting whether the video file is a video in a series; if the video file is a video in a series, obtaining an initial advertisement video file of the series, and caching the advertisement video file; when playing a subsequent video of the video in the series, playing the cached advertisement video file, and simultaneously downloading the subsequent video. The present technical solution has the advantage of implementing rapid video playback.
