An active optical cable is realized for which the time taken for dismantling work that is required when a fault such as disconnection is found is less than conventionally needed, and in which the structure of a connector does not have to be complicated as in the past. An active optical cable (1) is provided with a first connector (11), a second connector (12), optical fiber codes (10a1, 10a2), and a power supply line (10b1). The control circuit of the first connector (11) is provided with a control circuit for carrying out fault inspection on the optical fiber codes (10a1, 10a2) if the first connector (11) or the second connector (12) is unconnected when feeding of power to the first connector (11) and the second connector (12) is started.
