The invention relates to a method for pyrrolizidine alkaloid cleaning of a plant extract (primary extract) from symphytumcomprising the following steps: providing a plant extract (primary extract) from symphytum; differential precipitating of low-molecular polysaccharides as second precipitation from the plant extract (primary extract); pyrrolizidine alkaloid cleaning by means of selective removal of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) from a dispersing extract system. The precipitated second precipitation remains in the dispersing extract system in addition to a primary extract. A raffinate and a plant extract (primary extract) is separable from the extraction mixture (extraction material), wherein the raffinate has, in addition to unsoluble components of symphytum, the high-molecular polysaccharides from a first precipitation. The high-molecular polysaccharides from a suspension system from symphytum can be precipitated in a first differential precipitation.
