A method is provided for additively manufacturing a three-dimensional component (1) comprising a number of component layers by repeatedly adding component starting material, in particular metallic material, in the form of a powder, wire or strip, incrementally, in particular layer by layer, and consolidating it in a shaping manner, in particular incrementally, by selectively melting and/or sintering the component starting material in each case by means of at least one energy source, wherein, together with the at least one component, a supporting structure (5) that supports the at least one component (1) at one or more supporting points or supporting areas is additively manufactured, and wherein the supporting structure (5) is designed on the basis of values determined, in particular values determined on a simulation basis, of a physical, in particular thermal, field or a function thereof on the surface and/or in the interior of the component (1).
