A METHOD FOR DETERMINING TISSUE INSULIN SENSITIVITY, A METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING INSULIN RESISTANCE AND DETERMINING A PREDISPOSITION FOR A DISORDER CONNECTED THEREWITH AND USE OF INSULIN SENSITIVITY INDEX
The subject matter of the present invention relates to a method for determining tissue insulin sensitivity in a human subject, consisting in that in a blood sample drawn from a human subject, the following laboratory parameters and concentrations of the following proteins in serum are measured: red blood cells count (RBC), alanine aminotransferase (A1AT), C-peptide, sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), adiponectin, insulin-like growth factor binding protein- 1 (IGFBP1), and on the basis of the obtained results of the measurement an insulin sensitivity index is determined. The subject matter of the invention also relates to a method for identifying insulin resistance and determining a predisposition for a disorder connected with insulin resistance in a human subject wherein in a blood sample drawn from a human subject, the following laboratory parameters and concentrations of the following proteins in serum are measured: red blood cells count (RBC), alanine aminotransferase (A1AT), C-peptide, sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), adiponectin, insulin-like growth factor binding protein- 1 (IGFBP1); and on the basis of obtained results an insulin sensitivity index is determined insulin sensitivity is identified and a predisposition for a disorder connected with insulin resistance is determined. The subject matter of the invention also relates to an insulin sensitivity index for use as a diagnostic biomarker, for use as a biomarker of insulin resistance, for use as a prognostic biomarker of a disorder connected with insulin resistance and for use for determining a predisposition for a disorder connected with insulin resistance. The subject matter of the invention also relates to the use of the insulin sensitivity biomarker for monitoring tissue insulin sensitivity, in particular in a disorder and/or a disease connected with insulin resistance, in particular type 2 diabetes.
