Provided in the present application are a community-based password red envelope distribution method and apparatus, related to the technical field of communications. The method comprises: acquiring password red envelope feature information input by a first user and selected matching user information; generating an advertisement-free and sales-free red envelope, an advertisement-having and sales-free red envelope or and advertisement-having and sales-having red envelope according to the red envelope feature information and the matching user information; determining whether the first user has paid an amount corresponding to the advertisement-free and sales-free red envelope, the advertisement-having and sales-free red envelope or the advertisement-having and sales-having red envelope, and if the user has paid, sending information to be verified to a server platform for verification; acquiring information returned by the server platform according to the information to be verified, determining whether the returned information is information which has passed review, and when it is determined that it is information which has passed review, distributing the advertisement-free and sales-free red envelope, the advertisement-having and sales-free red envelope or the advertisement-having and sales-having red envelope. The present application, by means of voice mode transmission, can ease the current problems of electronic red envelopes having single-function sending, and weakness in advertising promotion.
