This method for producing an agent for suppressing spikes in blood glucose levels includes: a preparation step in which a culture solution containing bacteria capable of accumulating therein poly(R)-3-hydroxybuyric acid is prepared; a recovering step in which the culture solution is subjected to solid-liquid separation to recover a residue containing poly(R)-3-hydroxybuyric acid granules; and a generation step in which the residue is dried to generate poly(R)-3-hydroxybuyric acid powder.
