The folding station (S4) for the folding of a cardboard blank (C) about an article (D) rested on the cardboard blank (C) comprises: an inlet (IN), an outlet (OUT) and a conveyor (4) which restingly receives a cardboard blank (C) having a first portion (P1), a first lateral closing wall (C1), hinged to the first portion (P1), facing upstream, a second lateral closing wall (C2), hinged to the first portion (P1), facing downstream, an upper closing wall (PS), hinged to the second lateral closing wall (C2) facing downstream, a third lateral closing wall (C3) and a fourth lateral closing wall (C4), hinged and partly raised with respect to the first portion (P1) and projecting from sides of the conveyor, with an article to be packed (D) arranged resting with the base thereof on the first portion (P1), with a first lateral flank facing towards the first lateral closing wall (C1), a second lateral flank facing towards the second lateral closing wall (C2), a third flank, facing towards the third lateral closing wall (C3), and a fourth flank facing towards the fourth lateral closing wall (C4). The folding station (S4) comprises a first folding zone (Z1 ) for folding the third (C3) and fourth (C4) lateral closing walls for arranging them to cover the third and the fourth flank of the article, and a second folding zone (Z2) for folding the second lateral closing wall (C2) for covering the second flank of the article for folding the upper closing wall (PS) for covering the upper face of the article.
