Provided are: a separation membrane which can simultaneously have a higher level of separation selectivity and permissivity even in use under high-pressure conditions; a separation membrane module and separation device using the separation membrane; a separation membrane formation composition which is suitable for formulation of the separation membrane; and a production method for a composite membrane for separation using the composition. The present invention also provides a cellulose compound suitable as a constituent material for the separation membrane. The cellulose compound has a Hansen solubility parameter in which the polar parameter δP and the hydrogen bonding parameter δH satisfy formulae δP9.0 and δH13.8. The separation membrane has a separation layer containing the cellulose compound. The separation membrane module and the separation device have the separation membrane. The separation membrane formation composition contains the cellulose compound, a polymer, and a solvent. The production method for a composite membrane for separation comprises applying the separation membrane formation composition to a porous support layer, and drying the composition.
