For producing a low-power, low-phase noise oscillating signal, using an oscillator (102), a signal is produced having a base frequency component and an Nth harmonic component (112). N is a selected integer, and N 1. The signal is filtered through a bandpass filter (108) with Q factor ≥ 5. The filter (108) passes the Nth harmonic component as a filtered Nth harmonic component (106). The filtered Nth harmonic component (106) is injected into the oscillator (102) to self-injection lock the base frequency of the signal.
